Sight Screws question

I have an 1896 rifle with an 1896 sight.  I also have a 1902 sight that I would like to install to obtain windage adjustments.
The 1902 sight came with a rear screw (captured by the leaf being down).
Will the front screw from the 1896 sight work with the 1902 sight?

I also have inquiries out for a new rear hand guard to accommodate the 1902 sight.

Both screws on a 1898 and 1902 sight are the same length.  They are the same dimensions as the rear screw on an 1896 sight.  The front screw on an 1896 sight has a thicker head and longer shank.

Thanks.  If I read that right, I can use the rear screw from my 1896 sight and the rear screw that came with the 1902 sight and be golden.

Yes, compare the two.  They should look alike.

OK with new sight and handguard installed, got it zeroed to center thanks to the 1902 windage.  But I am 6 inches high at 50 yards with the 1902 battle sight position.  Which leads to the question:  does the 1902 sight require a different front sight blade than the 1896 sight?  If so, who has one?

ebeeby:  Front Sight Blade for 1896 Rifle Sight is .285".  Front Sight Blade for 1898, 1901 and 1902 Rifle Sights is .410".  S&S Firearms has replicas, you can make one, or search ebay (Krag), gunbroker, or contact members in classifieds who sell parts.
