I picked up this M89 Danish Krag last week. 100% matching 1892 with M1910 manual safety in the original crown over 92 barrel. Barrel cleaned up to a good plus after several cleaning and two treatments of my home made electrolysis system. The stock was duffel cut under the rear band which I repaired. Cleaned up a little surface rust with CLP and 4X steel wool. I found an original M1915 canvas web sling in Denmark and its on the way.

This is a bucket list gun for me; I been waiting for the right one for 15 years. This is in remembrance if my grandfather who served Denmark from 1929-1933.

I hope to put a few rounds out of it to try it, but it will mostly be a wall hanger. At some point, I'll get an American Krag that I can shoot.

That looks fantastic!  Have you found old surplus ammo for it or will you reload your own?  I know brass and dies are available because I reload 8X58R Danish for my Swede Rolling Block.

Important.  If you choose to reload your own, don't go by the info in "Cartridges of the World".  I know in my 8th edition the velocities and pressures listed are dangerously far above the actual commercial loads that were available.  I can direct you to more info if you need it.

More on the duffel cut repair; I finished what someone started. Their old brads kept the pieces of the stock aligned, and I removed the old glue for a clean surface. I drilled into each end and inserted a 4 inch stainless steel rod held with Gorilla Glue. I joined the halves with AcraGlass resin and added 5 inletted staples to hold the whole thing together. All is completely hidden by the rear band. While the repairs dried, they were taped to a meter stick to keep the halves aligned in the vertical and horizontal.

This is a nice Dane.  Congratulations.  I have a few of these and the carbines.  They are great fun to shoot.  I have taken a few deer with mine too.

Enjoy it.

Best regards,
Tom

I will if I can find some ammo for it!

Danish M15 sling came today, and I got some better pictures of the bore. A little rougher in close up than from the naked eye. Now I need a bayonet, but I may be interrupted by a M91 Finned Westinghouse...
