Here are a couple of my old beater 30-40s they both shoot very well.

Not pretty but they bring home the meat.   Wink

Nice looking rifles!  Do you think the shorter one was a genuine carbine and not just a cut down rifle?  How long is the barrel on the longer one?  I have one that was cut off at 26 inches.

Ah - the magic number!!!  What is the s/n of your 26" barrel, and are you sure it was cut-off?

Dick, my 26" Krag is either 175xxx or 231xxx, I can't remember which.  Does that put it the proper s/n range?

We'll have to see what edritchey says about his.

That little one the barrel measures 22"  The big one the barrel measures 24"  The short one looks like it has a factory crown on it but the longer one has a recessed target crown on it.

The 24 inch is similar to my sporter in that it has the Krag front sight post re-installed and a decent crown.  Mine has an aftermarket sporter stock (which I hate, by the way), and until recently, had a Redfield 102 rear sight on it.  I now have a 1902 rear sight on mine.   Cheesy

Nice looking Krag Sporters though!!!
