The cover of the July/August Single Shot Rifle Journal has a photo of Dr. Walter Hudson and his Krag, supposedly taken at Sea Girt in August, 1905.  There is also an article (pp. 7-11) on Hudson's western target shooting trip of 1905-1906.

'Reincarnated': Can you post a picture of the cover? How can one get a copy of 'The Single Shot Rifle Journal"?

Thanks for sharing about Dr. Hudson.

The Single Shot Rifle Journal is the bi-monthly magazine of the American Single Shot Rifle Association.  Normally, single issues are not sold.  But since the current issue deviated editorially from the ASSRA's own standards, they may make copies available.  Also they will probably make the cover photo available.

Contact is: (You need to Login to view media files and links)

The Journal Editor is John Merz.  The Archivist and ASSRA Secretary is Laurie Gapko.  E-mail addresses & contact phone #s are found on the above site.

The ASSRA is both a bunch of historical preservation guys and shooters, but mostly traditionalists.  They have a rather strict rule about "no discussion of bolt actions" on their Forum.  Except for Stevens-Pope rimfire conversions of the Krag (designed by the much revered Harry Pope and made by Stevens) and the Model 1898 Gallery Practice Rifle.

I contacted the editor.  He sent a JPEG file of the photo.  If you want the magazine, the few extra copies go to the ASSRA Membership Chairman to be sent out to new members.  He is on the list of Association officers.

The photo sent as a JPEG was a larger file.  I reduced it to print here.  If you want the larger file, PM me with an e-mail address.
