I bought this post card today on ebay. I think it nicely reflects the 'extended service life' of the Krag, through military necessity.

To say nothing of the extension of use of tactics from the 1600s, if not before!!

Can you imagine kneeling, totally exposed, in a fine line like that?

At least they are not massed in three ranks, two standing and one kneeling.

It must be cold. They are wearing jackets and gloves.

I feel sorry for the guys with the two behind them...  The report would be deafening, not to mention if those two were bad shots - someone could lose an ear!
