1898 rifle, good find?

Today I put this 1898 Krag on Layaway at a local gun shop. It looks to be in great shape. The only thing that seems to be wrong with it is that the rear sight is slightly bent (twisted?) so the sliding part cannot freely move. This looks like it should be an easy fix. Can anyone check SRS for me and tell me if there is anything for 423918? Based on the few pictures I snapped of it at the gun shop, does $800 plus tax seem like a fair price on it? Thanks!

'jthompson' - Your 'layaway' model 1898 appears to be a nice rifle. How is the bore?

No numbers near #423918 in the appendix tables in "The Krag Rifle Story", 2nd edition.

Nice 1902 'acceptance cartouche', which is likely correct for this rifle.

The rear sight leaf is cracked through on the right 'rail' just below "1". Easiest fix is getting a stripped leaf. "Movie man has them for $15 on ebay.

Slide binding screw is missing. Probably better off getting a replacement for the entire leaf assembly.
