Hey guys... I'm new here since I have only owned my first Krag for a matter of days.  Anyhow, there is more to this story than what I initially shared.

This shop where I bought my Krag has quite a selection of old guns, and plenty of people in the community bring in old family guns to sell, so I try to stop in there whenever I am in the area.

They have another Krag here at the store and it has a very high serial number.  It also has markings on the buttstock so I was wondering if there is a resource somewhere that can decipher where these marks were added??
