'Mcarroll1987', on Gun Boards, removed a broken Krag front-sight base, using heat and driving the base out.

His picture shows in great detail the barrel dovetail and the residue of the bronze brazing, that once made the 'joint' nearly invisible.

This normally would never have to be done.

I believe his photo, showing fine detail, is instructional and of interest.

The front sight on Krags is so well done that some seem to be one piece with the barrel. My original Krag is pretty good and I used to wonder how they did it.
You and others have explained it pretty well in the past, thanks for the photo showing the details.
