Hi, everyone. I'm a new member and excited about this forum.

I bought an 1896 Krag rifle (SN 93245) a few weeks ago and shot it for the first time today. The action is as smooth as can be and it was a pleasure to shoot. It was fun to understand how the magazine and the cutoff work. I'm thrilled! I bought two more boxes of .30-40 Krag on the way home.

Attached is a picture from today. As a new Krag owner, I have many questions. I'll spend some more time going through the topics on this site first. It's great that this community exists!

Welcome !!

"The action is as smooth as can be and it was a pleasure to shoot"

That is why those of us who are shooters usually take the viewpoint that "there are Krags and then there are all the rest of those hand-operated military repeating rifles".

'Pratt' - Welcome to the KCA Forum. I'm glad you are having fun.

It looks like your model 1896 was well regulated for windage. What distance were you shooting at?

Thanks, waterman. I was shooting at just 15 yards. I was mainly focused on familiarizing myself with the Krag and taking in the overall experience. I'll polish my marksmanship with the Krag later!  Smiley

Welcome!  This is a great forum with a wealth of info.  Keep us posted on your progress.  Yelp, hone those marksmanship skills and head to the National Matches at Perry this July or the Eastern Games in May.
