need one good photo

To the assembled:

I need one good photo showing the cleaning rod entering into the stock right at the rear band, specifically I need the profile of the stock there, just ahead of the band.

Thanks all,

Mark

IT DOES AND MANY THANKS. Perpendicular to the stock would be even better, but this is good, and thanks!

Now is this downloadable? We shall see.

my email address is mark@truenorthsurveyingservices.com if you want to email a jpeg.

Again, many thanks

The key is the EXPOSED elliptical termination of the channel, WELL clear of the band. If the channel disappears under the band, you need to worry about the stock having been "restored", since the narrow-style 1896 filler can be removed by an unscrupulous person. It will still have a square bottom, of course, but this can easily get overlooked when in buying lust, especially in poor light. By contrast, the wide-style filler, once applied, cannot be mistaken.

fyi we have a round bottomed bit so this should be nigh on to identical to Springfield's work. More than likely I will have this rifle till I leave this mortal plain at which time what becomes of it will matter little to me although the truth is there will be a letter attached to any rifle I own that has been repaired.
