Frank Mallory's (Krag SRS) data in the appendix of "Krag Rifle Story", 2nd. edition, has no 'hit' for #6672.

Your number is bracketed by #6667 and #6680, which were both model 1892 rifles that were with Company 'M' of the 18th Infantry in 1900.

You number not being listed likely guarantees it was not with this unit.

Made me do a quick double-take; I own 6692, which is a 92/96.

It looks like 'fumehappys' painted Krag, #6672, is a model 1892 that also received model 1896 updates.

Unless I am mistaken, it still has a relatively valuable model 1892 Bolt, (coupled with later bolt-sleeve, extractor, and Buehler Safety).
