Fantasy Carbine

I hereby coin a new term in the Krag world. Behold the "Fantasy Carbine". Don't call it a sporter, modified, cut down or Bubbified. As a Fantasy Carbine, it is as close as collectors can get to a real Krag Carbine for under a $1K.

Found this high serial number 1898 rifle receiver with a good 22 Inch Carbine barrel with front sight at the Louisville KY show last month for a super low garage sale price. Dug into the parts bin when I got home, scrounged enough to assemble a passable shooter and this is the result. Looks good and shoots like it should.

And I know you guys like good photos.

Could’ve fooled me. But then I’m not one of the experts that live here.  Nice build. I like it.

Very nice, I would love to carry that in the woods.
Only change would be a no drill peep sight.

Nice looking short Krag!

Is the solid 1899 carbine barrel-band simply retained by the 'stock pin'?
