I recently purchased an 1898 Krag (20-20.5" barrel) that I cannot classify. It seems to be of carbine length and weight, but other examples of 1898 carbines have slightly different stocks (from what I've seen). It is in nice shape with an exception being that it is missing the buttplate. As seen in the picture, there is no hole drilled in the top for the second screw to hold a normal Krag buttplate in. Any ideas on what exactly this rifle is and what buttplate it should use?

Thanks for the reply, I'll post a picture of the front sight. It seems like this is definitely a sporter type rifle, thankfully it still retains the old school look and feel.
