Interesting model 1896 sight

This sight sold today on ebay. I was tempted to bid, but, had no real use for it.

The sight appears to be a bit of a "Mixmaster".

It is an early model 1896 rifle sight with the "hump" on the leaf at the pivot screw.

The "V" notch plate, on the rifle elevation slide, is a carbine plate. (Note the slight 'step-down' on the top edge, both sides of the "V").

What did it go for? The lugged leaf and carbine slide are both pretty hard to find when trying to restore arms in a particular range - granted, they do not belong together as found there, but, good parts are good parts.

Dick - It sold for $80.

I didn't need any of the 'parts', so I did not bid.

I saw no point in being greedy or driving up the price.

I hope it went to a good home!

(1) But you never know when you might!
(2A) There is a vast difference between greed* and informed prudence
(2B) Evidently you would NOT have had to go to unreasonable lengths
(3) Me, too!

*greed is buying 20-30 (50?) copies of the "Rules for the Management . . . . ." to panel a wall in your gunroom.
